Earth Bound makes compostable carry bags from 8×10 to 27×30 inches, produce and grocery bags from 5×8 to 16×24, pouches from 4×6 to 8×11, and garbage and bio-hazard bags from 17×19 up to 30×50 and 35×45, in 30 to 60 microns. Pick the size for what goes into the bag, then check the load column to match its weight.
All sizes, thicknesses and loads are approximate and may vary based on material, design and application.
How do you read this size chart?
- Size is in inches.
- Microns is the thickness of the film. A higher number means a thicker bag.
- Approx. load is roughly how much weight the bag is made to carry.
Load depends on both size and thickness, so check the load column.

How do you choose the right size?
- Weigh your heaviest common order. Pick a bag whose load is a little above that weight.
- Check what goes in. Wide boxes need a wider bag; tall items need a longer one.
- Keep to a few sizes. Two or three standard sizes are easier to stock and reorder.
- Test a sample with your real load before a bulk order.
Can you get a size that is not in this chart?

Frequently asked questions
What does micron mean on a compostable bag?
It is the thickness of the film. One micron is one thousandth of a millimetre. A higher micron number means a thicker bag.
Are these sizes and loads exact?
No. They are approximate and may vary based on material, design and application. Test a sample with your real load before a bulk order.
Which bag carries the most weight?
In this chart, the 30×50 garbage bag at 50 microns, about 18 kg. Among carry bags, the 27×30 U-cut and the 20×24 D-cut carry about 10 kg each.
Can you make a size that is not listed here?

Why do two bags of the same size carry different loads?
Thickness changes the load. An 8×10 U-cut bag carries about 500 g at 30 microns and about 750 g at 35 microns.
